This article will summarize the basics of how to get your community running on Frond.
What is Frond?
Frond is a refreshingly simple take on forums. Growing your community here is effortless, fun, and free to start. Frond is being used by a wide variety of different communities – creators, sports groups, work teams, educational institutions, or simply by a group of friends.
1. Create your first community
- Go to frond.com and create your first community.
- The onboarding steps will take you through the creation of your first community and create your user account if you’re not signed up yet.
- You can choose from different templates or start from scratch. Selecting a template will automatically create a set of groups for your community to make things easy on you.
- You can decide whether your community should be public or private. Public communities can be accessed by everyone and will be search-indexed, which can be advantageous for your community's growth. You can always change that in your community settings later on.
2. Set up your community
Now that you’ve successfully created your community, let’s dive into the most important things to set up before inviting your first members.
Member onboarding 👋
There are three components under /settings/onboarding
, which together make up the member onboarding experience. You can customize or disable any of these.
- Welcome posts: The welcome post is displayed to all new members at the top of your community's Home feed. You can edit the post or disable it.
- New member introductions: If enabled, Frond will prompt each new member of your community to respond to your prompt. Their answer will be generated as their first post.
- Welcome group: The welcome group makes it easy for you to introduce your community to new members as they join. New member introductions will also automatically be added to the welcome group.
Community permissions 🔐
You have the ability to manage various permissions under /settings/permissions
. Here's a quick overview of what you can do:
- Make your community either public or private
- Set who can add new members to your community
